Dr. Glasier uses a model of treating the personal underlying causes of addictive behavior (alcohol abuse, drug abuse, sexual acting out, cutting, eating disorders) that includes multiple meetings per week following detoxifying (in the case of substances) to access the persistent, painful themes that create anxiety that keep a person using addictive substances or performing addictive acts. She works in conjunction with a holistic medical practitioner who helps restore the body’s physiological balance. The goal is to work in a regulated and consistent manner to understand the motivation behind the addictive behavior, both regarding issues from the past as well as current life challenges – some clients utilize a 12-step program along with the individualized work, others do not.
